Mrs. Betty Rae Beach, 89, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday morning, February 20, 2020, at the Colleton Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Mr. Elmer Ervin Beach.
Born August 25, 1930, in Smoaks, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Hobson Varnadoe and the late Fannie Mae Bassett Varnadoe. She was a longtime seamstress having worked over the years with Smoaks Manufacturing and J.P. Stevens. She retired from the Colleton Museum. She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and will always be remembered a devoted Christian and true Southern Lady.
Surviving are: two children, Larry Ervin Beach of Walterboro and Rose Beach Mendoza and her husband Mike of Johns Island; a sister, Nell Lyons and her husband Lehman of Walterboro; and two grandchildren, Damien Beach of Walterboro and Brianna Mendoza of Columbia. There are a host of beloved nieces and nephews that also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Care of Maxine Beach, 965 Burlington Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2020, from Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 5277 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
