Mrs. Betty Wethington Alderman, 73, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2021 at The Oaks in Beaufort. She was the widow of Thomas “Tommy” Eugene Alderman, to whom she was married 53 years.
Born March 26, 1948 in Walterboro, she was the youngest of seven children born to the late John Willoughby Wethington and Allie Christine McQuagge Wethington. She was a retired office clerk and secretary for Mead-Westvaco. She was a lifetime member of Peniel Baptist Church and was a devout Christian. Mrs. Betty was someone you could always rely on and was always caring for others. She meant so many things to so many different people but she always had a smile for everyone and everyone that knew her, loved her.
Surviving are: her children, SMSGT Thomas Eugene Alderman, Jr., USAF (Retired) of Port Wentworth, Georgia and Beth Alderman Tripp of Ruffin; grandchildren, Drew Tripp (Hannah), Dustin Tripp, Asa Alderman, Lydia Alderman, Darren Alderman, and Gabriel Alderman; great granddaughter, Nora Tripp; brother, James Wethington of Santa Clara, California; sister, Syble Benton of Ruffin; sisters-in-law, Claudia Wethington of Santa Clara, California, and Peggy Williams (Owen) of Islandton; brother-in-law, Donnie Alderman (Lee) of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Tripp; brother, Harold Wethington; and sisters, Shirley Reavis, Allie Rahn, and Joan Wethington.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2021 at Peniel Baptist Church, Forks Road, Islandton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
