Mrs. Ann Bazzle Baker, 81, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, January 25, 2020, at Pruitt Health Care Center in Walterboro. She was twice married, first to the late Mr. Edward Earl Hawkins and secondly to the late Mr. Newton David Baker.
Born January 2, 1939, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late William Irvin Bazzle and the late Bessie Lee Jackson Bazzle. She was a retired certified nursing assistant and was a member of the Red Oak Holiness Church. Ann loved basketball and throughout her life credited basketball as the sole reason she graduated high school. She dearly loved her family, always centering her life around her children and grandchildren and their families.
Surviving are: three daughters, Sylvia Graves and her husband Ernie, Phyllis Hill and her husband Billy, and Veronica Coker and her husband Carroll all of Walterboro; a sister, Verna Hoover of Ridgeville; twelve grandchildren, Darrell Coker, Katrina McCarter, Andrea Olerud, Crystal Hill, B.J. Hill, Amanda Bevins, Jessica Krauel, Kim Colson, Diana Roberts, Brenda Mitchell, Amber Brown, and Tiffney Myers; thirty-seven great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Brown; a grandson, William Shawn Brown; three brothers, Mood Bazzle, Edward Bazzle, and Reverend Carl Bazzle; and two sisters, Dorothy Bendt and Myrtle Driggers.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, January 30, 2020, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Billy Joe Hill and The Reverend Robert Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
