Private First Class Andrew Shane Thompson, South Carolina National Guard, age 25, of Cottageville, entered into rest Saturday, August 4, 2018, at his residence.

                        

Born January 15, 1993 in Colleton County he was a son of Franklin Delano Thompson, Jr. and the late Crystal Michelle Gibson.  He served his country as a Private First Class in the South Carolina Army National Guard having served in the Infantry Division.  While stationed at Fort Benning, Private First Class Thompson was awarded with the Expert Marksmanship Medal and at Annual Training he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal.   He was an apprentice lineman at Mastec Contractors and was a member of Maple Cane Baptist Church in Cottageville.    He had recently joined the Masonic Lodge and had received his Entered Apprentice Degree at Round Lodge, No.  270 – Ancient Free Masons in Cottageville.   He dearly loved the outdoors and always enjoyed hunting and fishing.   He had formerly served as a Junior Fireman with Lake Moultrie Fire Department.   Andrew always had a smile on his face and was a precious soul who served his country and fellow man.  He was a true family man who centered his life around his wife, children, and family.     

 

Surviving are: his wife, Angela Michelle Thompson; two sons, Wyatt and Waylon Dangerfield; his father, Frankie Thompson and his wife Desiree of Cottageville; four siblings, Lindsie Thompson and her daughter, Raelynn of Bonneau, Hunter Thompson of Cottageville, Seth Butcher of Lexington, and Sheridan Butcher of Due West; grandparents, Debbie Price Dunn and her husband Johnny of Clover, Franklin Delano Thompson, Sr. of Cottageville, and Lenora Hickman and her husband Reggie of Walterboro, and his father and mother-in-law, Michael and Jean Shelton of Goose Creek.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth White Thompson.  

 

Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted 11 o’clock Thursday morning, August 9, 2018, from Maple Cane Baptist Church, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville.  The Reverend Blake Anderson officiating.  Interment will follow in Fox Cemetery, Wesley Grove Road, Round O.
