Ms. Alice Chesser Barnes, 82, of Ehrhardt, entered into rest Friday evening, July 1, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Early Branch under the care of Amedisys Hospice. She was first married to the late William Charles Chesser and secondly to the late James “Jimmy” Floyd Barnes.
Born March 23, 1940 in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Carl Strickland and Margaret Eula Nettles Strickland. Ms. Alice was an excellent seamstress, loved working in her yard, and was meticulous at anything she did. She loved seeing the beauty in everything and enjoyed dancing. She made caring for her family her life. She was an adventurous, fun-loving grandmother, who was always game to go anywhere no matter where it was, loved riding roller coasters and motorcycles, and anything else that her grands wanted to do.
Surviving are: her daughters, Dianna Smith (Marvin) and Sandra Fennell (John Taylor); sister, Barbara Brant; brother-in-law, Ray Barnes and his wife Alice; grandchildren, Dana Boyles, Blake Smith (Dianna), Ashley Harriott (Samuel), Clyde Fennell and Brian Fennell; great grandchildren, Mark, Gabrielle, Charles, Jasper, Sydney, Tucker, Beau, Gabriel, and Analeigh; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carla Yvonne Chesser.
Graveside funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022 at Johnson-St. Paul Cemetery in Hampton.
