William Steen

Mr. William Franklin Steen, affectionately known by many as “Bill”, age 69, of Bama Road in Cottageville, entered into rest Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2013, from 2 o’clock untll 4 o'clock at the Cottageville Baptist Church Social Hall, 11643 Cottageville Highway, Cottageville.

Born September 12, 1943, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late William Hazel Steen and the late Dorothy Locklair Steen. He resided in Florida before making Cottageville his home for the past 21 years. He was a retired contractor consultant having retired in 1992 from Tropicana; and had also been employed by the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He will be fondly remembered for his love of fresh water fishing, golfing, wood crafting, and working in his yards.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Vicki Frey Steen; a son, Randy Steen and his wife Maria of Seffner, Florida; two daughters, Jennifer Steen Mohs and her husband Tim of Orlando, Florida and Tiffany Lynne Pearson and her husband Ryan of Walterboro; three step-sons, Rodney Norris and his wife Cindy of Bradenton, Florida, John Norris of Charleston, and Michael Norris of Bradenton, Florida; and a brother, James Steen and his wife Margaret Steen of Cottageville. There are ten grandchildren, Joshua, Kennedy, Sarah, McKenzi, Madilyn, Harley, Dakota, Dawson, Willis, and Gracie as well as one great grandchild, Riley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Murray P. Steen; and a sister, Juanita Knight.
