Mr. William Lindberg Stanfield, 87, entered into rest Monday morning, March 2, 2015, at his home in Cottageville while under the care of Agape Hospice. He was the loving husband of the late Mrs. Florence Florine Brickle Stanfield.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Wednesday morning, March 4, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Philip McNeal officiating. Interment will follow in Murray Cemetery, Wire Road, Grover.
Born November 30, 1927, a native of Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late John Malachi Stanfield and the late Eva Louise Bunton Stanfield. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II having served aboard the USS Albermarle. He then worked a dedicated a faithful career which demonstrated his strong work ethic for forty-one years at the Parris Island Marine Corps Base where he retired as a Paint Supervisor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro. He will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing and watching westerns.
Surviving are: a son, Billy Stanfield and his wife Madora of Saluda; a daughter, Louise Stanfield Williams and her husband Myron of Cottageville; a son-in-law, Gerald Bailey of Cottageville; and two sisters, Carolyn Breland and her husband L.C. of Ruffin and Patricia Stanfield of Walterboro. There are five grandchildren, David Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dawn Baca of Dover, Delaware, Mark Williams of Louisville, Kentucky, Tara Stanfield of Columbia, and Julianna Stanfield of Saluda; as well as two great grandchildren, Dakota Roxas and Samuel Williams that also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Stanfield Bailey in 2011 and by a brother, Walter Stanfield.
