Mr. William Isaac Carter, Sr., 79, of 8458 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday morning, September 15, 2009, at his residence under the care of Winyah Hospice.



Funeral services will be conducted 5 oclock Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2009, from the graveside at Carter-Evans Cemetery, located on the family property, 8458 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.



Mr. Carter was born February 23, 1930, in Charleston, and was a son of the late Rittenburg Carter and the late Helen Augustus Barrineau Carter. He served his country faithfully in both the United States Navy and the United States Army, having served two theaters of World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired supervisor from Asten-Johnson in Walterboro where he retired in 1993 and had also served this company faithfully in the capacity of a truck driver. In earlier years, he was a former motorcycle cop for the City of Charleston. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and will be fondly recalled for his more than avid love of fishing the local creeks and rivers of Colleton County; as well as he love of sports. He also possessed a special passion for traveling.



Surviving are: his wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Ethel Williamson Carter; two sons, Isaac William Bo Carter, Jr. and his wife Kay of Waynesville and Michael Anthony Carter, Sr. and his wife Paulette of Williams; three daughters, Catherine Juanita Carter of Lexington, Teresa Gail Evans and her husband Terry of Walterboro, and Deborah Angelia Carter of Walterboro; three brothers, Joseph Carter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Tony Carter of Charleston, Edward Carter of Summerville; and two sisters, Helen Adkins of Charleston and Nancy Sineath of Charleston. There are fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Dale Carter; and a grandson.



The family would like to extend their appreciation to the administration and staff of Winyah Hospice for their dedication and love shown to them and Mr. Carter during his final days, as well as a special note of thanks to Nurse Sharon.
