William Mcgrew

Mr. William Abner McGrew, 86, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday evening, January 26, 2021 at his residence.

Born August 11, 1934 in Clark County, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Claude McGrew and Mittie Elizabeth Dew McGrew. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Doctors Creek Baptist Church.  He was the owner and operator of McGrew Ice Cream.  Mr. William was a hardworker who loved his family and was always willing to help others.  He was larger than life and the greatest man his family ever knew.

Surviving are: his wife of 25 years, Dorothy Hickman McGrew of Walterboro; children, Margaret McGrew Bottoms (Gary) of Fairfield, Ohio, Jay McGrew (Yvonne) of Cottageville, Betty McGrew DeMarco (Corey) of Omaha, Nebraska, Donald Fillers, Jr. (Sandy) of Johns Island, John Fillers (Amy Leonard) of Walterboro, and Angel Strength (Chris) of Ventura, California; daughter-in-law, Alberta Fillers of Walterboro; brother, Tommy McGrew (Brenda); sister, Polly McGrew Green (Jerry); 25 grandchildren; and 46 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, William Fillers; 2 grandchildren; brothers, Lester McGrew, Walter McGrew, Chester McGrew, Arvile McGrew, Hardy McGrew, Leroy McGrew, and Claude McGrew; and sisters, Elizabeth McGrew, Ada McGrew Dearman, and Esther McGrew Boykin.

Funeral services will be held 4 o’clock, Friday afternoon, January 29, 2021 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
