Mr. William Dwight Jones, Sr., 65, of Lynwood Road, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday. March 12, 2013 at MUSC in Charleston.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at North Walterboro Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Jones was born September 10, 1947 in Walterboro and was a son of Mary Elizabeth Reeves Jones Newton and the late Farey Lanier Jones. He attended North Walterboro Baptist Church and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He managed Cummings Oil Company in Walterboro for 43 years and Summerville Propane, a division of Carmichael Oil, for the past 6 years.
William loved westerns, enjoyed working in his yard, and loved collecting old metal signs and antiques. Anyone who knew him knew that he was a car enthusiast who collected hot rods, and loved participating in car shows. His love for life was exhibited through his never ending smile, his outgoing personality, his friendly nature with all he met, and most importantly, his devotion to his family.
Surviving are: his wife, Debra VanPelt Jones of Walterboro; his mother and step-father, Mary Betty and Leonard Newton of Cottageville; daughters, Vicky Jones Lyons and her husband Curtis of Walterboro and Deanne Jones Lewis of Sumter; Jessica Watts of Ladson, Christina Watts of Walterboro, and son, Jacob Watts of Walterboro; brothers, Wilson Lanny Jones and his wife, Minami, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Randall Jones and his wife, Sandi, of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters, Mary Diane Feole and her husband, Terry, of Westford, Massachusetts and Pamela Cascio and her husband, Steve, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; grandchildren, T.J. Grayson and his wife, Katie; Brittany Lyons Rook and her husband, Tommy; Trey Lewis, Taylor Lyons, McKenzee Lewis, Payton Lewis, and Haven Lyons; and great grandchildren, Keira Grayson, Tatum Grayson and Trey Rook; and many nieces and nephews. He was also awaiting the arrival of a granddaughter, Aria OQuinn; and a great granddaughter, Charlize Charlie Grayson. He was preceded in death by a son, William Dwight Bubba Jones, Jr.; a daughter, Mandy Elizabeth Jones; his first wife and mother of his children, Betsy Hiott Jones; brothers, David Bruce Jones and Robert Wayne Jones; and stepfather, James Ben Aldret.
The family would like to especially thank the Oncology, Neurology and Respiratory teams at MUSC for the care they gave to William during his illness.
