William Alvin Garnsey, Sr.

Mr. William Alvin Garnsey, Sr., 61, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born July 16, 1961, in Beaufort, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Robert Nolta Garnsey and the late Treacie Lavenia Nettles Garnsey.   Alvin dedicated his life to his family, work, and God.  He was the owner of Alvin Garnsey Construction in Walterboro and was a member of Academy Road Baptist Church.   He will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and others, always giving all that he could to anyone in need.

Surviving are: his wife of twenty-seven years, Mrs. Rhonda Stanley Garnsey; five children, Crystal G. Smith (George) of Walterboro, Brittany S. Drawdy (Taylor) of Ruffin, Ashley R. Destarkey (Jeremy) of Mississippi, Tiffany A. Vititoe (Michael) of Walterboro, and Paul A. Garnsey (Isabella) of Walterboro; a brother, Robert Lee Garnsey; and three sisters, Treacie Hill, Annette Garnsey, and Lisa Eder.  There are twelve grandchildren, Alliyah, Alaysia, Aniah, Elizabeth, Levi, Greyson, Mackenzie, Liam, Jensen, Trenton, Aramis, and Owen as well as Hudson who is on the way; and a nephew whom he loved as a son, Daniel Garnsey (Shannon) and his children, Xander, Hannah, and Grace Ann.  He was preceded in death by a son, William A. Garnsey, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30pm Sunday afternoon, March 26, 2023, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Michael Loftin and The Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating.   Interment will follow in Stanley Hill Cemetery, Stanley Avenue, Walterboro.
