He was an avid fan of competition sports, which were pool, and NASCAR Motor Sports Racing - always pulling for the Dale Earnhardt Team with every race and victory they claimed. During his life he had two other pastimes which he would incorporate the two together, never having one without the other - camping and fishing. Mostly enjoying fresh water fishing, he would also go at any opportunity to fish ponds, off shore and any type that presented an opportunity.

Surviving are his wife of thirty years, Mrs. Jackie Cleveland Butts; three sons, E. J. Cady and his wife Sandra of Charleston, David Cady of Dallas, Texas, and Tim Cady and his wife Jamie of Tampa, Florida. Just a few short weeks past, this family gathered as they do now to bury one of his sons, the second born, Dennis Cady who is survived by his wife, Donna of Union.
