Mr. William Bill Thomas Burns, III, 70, of Haymakers Lane, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Charleston.



Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2010 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.



Mr. Burns was born March 17, 1939 in Miami, Florida and was a son of the late William Thomas Burns, Jr. and Dorothy Ikerd Meyers. He served his country faithfully in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict and was the owner of Burns Construction in Walterboro. Mr. Burns attended Zion Baptist Church, was a Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. He was the founder of Triangle Fire Equipment in Miami Florida and was a member of Smoaks Hunting Club. He will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, whom he cherished deeply.



Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, Ruby Abbott Burns; son, William Billy Thomas Burns, IV and his wife Jennifer of Walterboro; daughter, Luanne McPherson of Charleston; and grandchildren, Meagan Elise Burns, Olivia Iris Burns, Caitlin Marie McPherson and Joseph Elliot McPherson, Jr. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Marie Romine.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The VA Community Living Center, in memory of William T. Burns, III, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29401.
