Mr. Wilbur Edward Eddie Gibson, 58, of Lodge, entered into his state of eternal rest Tuesday evening, March 2, 2010, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Friday afternoon, March 5, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with The Reverend Danny Fogle officiating. Interment will follow in the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery, Forks Road, Islandton.
Mr. Gibson was born December 18, 1951 in Walterboro, SC, and was a son of the late Wilbur Casalee Gibson and the late Evelyn Priester Gibson. He served his country faithfully in the South Carolina National Guard and was employed for a combined thirty-three years by the Asten Johnson Company as a calendar operator. His employment at Asten-Johnson was more than a career to him, it was Eddies life, and the work he accomplished there, along with the work he performed will always be remembered. He possessed an avid love for working on cars and building motors; and was an avid NASCAR Motor Sports fan always supporting the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
Surviving are: his wife of thirty-five years, Mrs. Brenda K. Parnell Gibson; two children, Christopher Edward Gibson and his wife Alicia of Islandton and Heather Gibson Stone and her husband Mitchell of Walterboro: two brothers, Stanley Michael Gibson of Knoxville, Tennessee and James Chopper Gibson of Islandton; his mother-in-law: Mrs. Geraldine K. Parnell of Lodge; and his grandson, Christopher Edward C.J. Gibson, Jr. of Islandton.
The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher E. Gibson, 1316 Gibson Road, Islandton, SC.
