Wayne Williams

d. January 6, 2010

RUFFIN " Mr. Klein Wayne Williams, affectionately known by many as W.W., age 69, of 67 Double Churches Road in Ruffin, entered into his state of eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, January 6, 2010, at the Bamberg County Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 Saturday afternoon, January 9, 2010, from St. John United Methodist Church, Double Churches Road, Ruffin, with The Reverend James Grubb and The Reverend David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina.

Mr. Williams was born October 12, 1940, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Klein Williams and the late Evelyn Breland Williams. He was a graduate of Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina and was a retired Head of Operations for the Water Department of Ruffin, South Carolina, an occupation he faithfully dedicated himself to for many years. He was the owner and operator of Williams Exterminating in Ruffin and was also a local tree farmer, an occupation he carried as a hobby for many years. He was a lifelong and dedicated member of St. John United Methodist Church where he was active in many aspects of the churchs work. At his church he was a member of the United Methodist Mens Club, served as the Church Counsel Chairperson for several terms, and was a former Church Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent.

Wayne was an avid hunter, and hunting big game white tail deer was among a few of the true joys of his life, along with the dogs he affectionately cared for. Other joys his life afforded him was the love he had for people and his true desire to be a friend and assist those he could. He cared for many people, and in many times participated as their caregiver, especially his beloved parents; and beloved aunt, Inez Maxey. He provided well for those he knew, and will surely be a missed personality in the Ruffin community.

Surviving are: three double first cousins, Nancy Breland Smoak of New London, North Carolina, Annette Breland Willoughby and her husband Harry of Surfside, South Carolina, and Dianne Breland Johnson and her husband Andrew of Lowrys, South Carolina. He is also survived by an innumerable amount of beloved cousins, extended family, and friends.
