Mr. Wayne Edward Benton, 74, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, June 29, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Lula Raymond Benton.
Born February 6, 1950, in Walterboro, he was a son of the late Franklin and Bertha Benton. He was a retired tree trimmer for Murdaugh’s Tree Service in Walterboro. He loved fishing and especially loved joking and laughing with everyone he met. He was dedicated to his work and to his family.
Surviving are: his grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Groves Spires and her husband Carlton of Orangeburg and Justin Groves; brother, Carl Benton of Walterboro. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Benton, Kay Garrison and Mary Lee Crosby.
The family would especially like to thank his caregivers for the love, support and care they have given Wayne: Laura Benton Manigault, Karen “Kay” Walker, Arizona Manigault, and Darlene Doyle.
Funeral services will be held 10 o’clock, Saturday morning, July 6, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Pine Grove Road, Walterboro.
