Walter Ward
April 2, 1958 — August 10, 2011
Mr. Walter William Ward, 53, of Cypress Pond Road, Walterboro, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at his residence. Born in Charleston, SC at Baker Memorial Hospital, a son of the late Carlos Warren Ward and Mildred Muzia Fowler Ward, Walter was a lifelong resident of the Lowcountry area. He attended John's Island High School. For over 30 years he worked in the painting industry in and around Charleston. He ran his own business for a time and was most recently employed by Graydaze Painting. His favorite kind of work was restoration work, as he always said, "You can always take something old and make it look new again." Walter enjoyed classic country music, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He also like keeping up with the weather and the news.
He is survived by his wife Shelli Terlizzi, his 4 children, Christopher Ward of Summerville, Trey Ward of Concord, NC, Lisa Murray of Havelock, NC and Beth Smith of Mt. Vernon, WA; 7 grandchildren; and a brother, Tommy Boyd of West Ashley. He will also be missed by many beloved family pets.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 3 until 6 pm at Birdie and Sharon's Social Club, 2912 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. All are encouraged to come and share thoughts and stories about Walter with those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Walter's memory to either the Charleston Historical Society or Pet Helpers on James Island.
