Mr. Walter Leroy Stutts, 82, of 85 Moyer Lane, Walterboro, passed away Monday morning, February 16, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness and under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Elberta Moyer Stutts.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Wednesday afternoon, February 18, 2009, form the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, Jefferies Blvd, Walterboro, with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy.
Mr. Stutts was born April 26, 1925, in Walterboro, and was a son of the late C. H. Stutts and the late Lanie Roberts Stutts. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for seven years and was a retired driver with Brayline Trucking Company. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3433 in Ladson and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are: two daughters, Betsey Hand and her husband Bob of Walterboro and Tilly Stutts Carley of Norfolk, Virginia; a son, Dennis Walter Stutts of Norfolk, Virginia; two sisters, Daisy Carson and Iva Lee Headden both of Walterboro; and a brother, Harry L. Stutts of Walterboro. There are several grandchildren and great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Stutts.
