Mrs. Virginia Lee Steinmeyer, 76, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday morning, March 10, 2022, at her residence.
Born August 20, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the only child of Joseph T. Lee and the late Helen Keys Lee. Virginia dedicated herself to her work and worked a career of almost thirty years with the Department of the Navy, having worked in various Engineering Departments in Virginia and South Carolina. She and her husband made Walterboro their home twenty years ago following their retirements. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She loved and centered her life around her family and took great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always very softspoken but accomplished great things in her lifetime.
Surviving are: her husband of fifty-seven years, Mr. Arthur M. Steinmeyer; a daughter, Jill Steinmeyer of Summerville; three grandchildren, Carolina Pate of Harleyville, Keegan Pate of Columbia, and Joseph Pate of Walterboro; and two great grandchildren, Aubree Pate and Kinzlee Savage. She was preceded in death by her son, Todd Steinmeyer.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
A private family graveside service will be held at Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston.
