Mrs. Virginia Crosby Drawdy, 90, of Sniders Highway, Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Saturday evening, September 17, 2011, at the NHC of Lexington in West Columbia. She was the widow of Mr. James Gahagan Drawdy, Sr. who died in 1977.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, September 21, 2011, from Sandy Dam United Methodist Church, 3422 Charleston Highway, Walterboro, with The Reverend Ralph Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

Born January 14, 1921, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Herman G. Crosby, Sr., and the late Gaynelle Price Crosby. A devoted housewife following her retirement, she was employee of Clemson University Extension, where she worked with the dietary department. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Dam United Methodist Church where she, following the death of her husband saw her need to assist with the cemetery of the church and for many years, she was the one who was primarily responsible for the churchyard and also established the Cemetery Fund. Also at her church, she was a member of the Womens Missionary Society as well as being the church historian. She had a passion for possessing as much knowledge concerning history, and will always be remembered for her good southern cooking as well as being a very devoted mother and grandmother to her family.

Surviving are: her children, James G. Drawdy, Jr. and his wife Mary of Nesbit, Mississippi, Gloria Mazzone and her husband Joseph of West Columbia, Gaye Price of Walterboro, Judy Moehlenbrock and her husband Henry of Greenville, and Timothy Lehe Drawdy, Sr. and his wife Kathy of Walterboro; a brother, Herman G. Crosby of Edisto Island; and a sister, Deanie Crosby Gabbard and her husband Walter Dudley of Lutz, Florida. There are twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

The family wishes to give a special "Thank You" to the administration and staff of NHC Lexington for the care they lovingly provided.

The family will be at the residence of Timmie and Kathy Drawdy, 6475 Snider's Highway, Walterboro.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those who wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to : Sandy Dam United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4916 Charleston Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
