Marilyn Virginia Donehue DeLoach, 88, of Estill, entered into eternal rest Friday morning, June 14, 2024, at her residence.
Virginia was born February 6, 1936, in Hampton County to the late John Franklin Donehue and Ida Priscilla Sauls Donehue. She was a member of Varnville First Baptist Church. During her working life she was a seamstress employed by Westinghouse, and multiple other sewing rooms. Mrs. DeLoach loved flowers, cooking, and especially loved baking. She enjoyed baking sweets for everyone, homemade fudge, candied pecans, and Mississippi mud cake. If you ever had her cooking, you knew to look for her dishes at family functions. As a crafter, she spent a lot of time painting and crafting various things, and she also took a cake decorating class and put her artistic abilities into something she loved most. It is said that Virginia was naturally good at anything and picked things up easily. She is remembered as a wonderful, loving person, who took care of everyone but was also a “firecracker” at the same time. She was a devoted wife to her late husband of 67 years, Franklyn. She moved out of town to be with him in the country and was an exceptional caregiver to him during his illness.
Surviving are: her sons, Franklyn DeLoach Jr., of Hampton, and Brian DeLoach of Hampton; her daughters, Sylvia DeLoach of Estill, and Diane Walsh and her husband David of Hampton; her grandchildren, Scott (Naomi), Michael (Laurin), Stephen, Nathan, Heather, Jennifer, Alexia, Cole, John, and Kayla; her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Lucas, Oliver, Grady, Morgan, Kristin, BreAuna, Olivia, Jaida, Myah, and another on the way, Avianna; her great-great-grandchildren, Khloe, Kayson, Juelz, and Madisyn; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Viriginia is preceded in death by her husband, Franklyn Deloach, Sr., one brother, and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held 11 o’clock, Monday morning, June 17, 2024, at Steep Bottom Baptist Church Cemetery, 2035 Steep Bottom Road, Estill, South Carolina, 29918.
