Mrs. Virginia Benton Carter, 85, of Walterboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020 surrounded by her family at her son’s residence in Starkville, Mississippi. She was first married to the late Eugene Berkley Benton and secondly to the late Earnest J. Carter.
Born January 19, 1935 in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late Bennie and Eunice Polk of Islandton. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a faithful member of The Well at Jones Swamp Pentecostal Church. She loved spending time with family and loved outdoor activities, especially fishing.
Surviving are: her children, Gene Benton (Debbie) of Mississippi and Donny Benton (Mary) of Arizona; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; as well as many dearly loved family and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald D. Benton and Charles Melvin “Bugger” Benton.
Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, December 4, 2020 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.
