Mrs. Viola Faulling Colson, 79, of 690 Phillips Road, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Friday morning, May 21, 2010, at a Charleston area hospital. She was twice married, first to the late Mr. Asbury Perritte and secondly to the late Mr. Levy Colson.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 oclock Sunday afternoon, May 23, 2010, from the graveside at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.
Mrs. Colson was born November 12, 1930, in Berkley County and was a daughter of the late Patrick Franklin Faulling and the late Mattie Lee Pipkin Faulling. She was a retired seamstress having first worked for the Manhattan Shirt Company before the company changed to Levi Shirt Factory; as well she worked as a certified nursing assistant for the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro for many years. She was an active member of the Walterboro Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was active in many aspects of the churchs work and was a member of the Relief Society. Viola had a sincere love for people and found a true joy in helping others.
Surviving are: two sons, Larry A. Perritte and his wife Elaine of Walterboro and Charles P. Perritte, Sr. of Saint Stephens; a step-son, Gene Colson and his wife Joanne of Charleston; a step-daughter, Joyce Colson Polk of Beaufort; a brother, Walter E. Faulling Sr. of Saint Stephens; and three sisters, Elizabeth Craven of Walterboro, Julia Tiarney of Saint Stephens, and Mattie Lee Strawn of Saint Stephens. There are five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren that also survive, along with her beloved pit-bull, Rebel. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela K. Livingston.
