Mrs. Vera Nettles Padgett, 90, of Dowling Avenue in Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Wednesday morning, May 16, 2012, at Magnolia's of Santee. She was twice married, first to the late Mr. Andrew Franklin Nettles, Jr., and secondly to the late David Harold Padgett, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, May 18, 2012, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro, with The Reverend David Cox officiating. The family will receive friends following the committal ceremony at the cemetery.
Mrs. Padgett was born October 19, 1921, in Colleton County, and was a daughter of the late Harvey Edward Crosby, Sr. and the late Isabell Beach Crosby. She was formerly a sales clerk with the Edwards Department Store and ended her working career after employment in the printing department of Dayco in Walterboro. In her earlier years she was a seamstress and possessed a special talent with quilting and craft work. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro and was formerly a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church in Walterboro.
Surviving are: three sons, Jack A. Nettles and his wife Ann Lyons Nettles of Goose Creek, Kenneth W. Nettles and his wife Cynthia Hamby Nettles of Lexington, and Ronald A. Nettles and his wife Cynthia McCord Nettles of Walterboro; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
