Turner Logan Canady, Jr., 66, of 8928 Canady Road, Adams Run, died unexpectedly Friday evening, January 2, 2009, in Orangeburg.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, January 5, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.
Mr. Canady was born November 27, 1942, in Charleston County and was a son of the late Turner Logan Canady, Sr. and the late Juanita Wolfe Canady. He served his country faithfully in the United States National Guard and was a retired employee of thirty-three years with the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he was the Superintendent of Shop No. 11. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Adams Run. He will be remembered for his love of dogs and fox hunting as well as the passion he possessed for NASCAR Motor Racing. Affectionately called PePa, everyone will fondly recall that the joys of his life were his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife of twenty-four years, Mrs. Gloria Ducy Lane Canady; two daughters, Terron Lairson and her husband Jay of Summerville and Jessica Belue and her husband Chad of Johns Island; a sister, Sandra Vick and her husband Carl of Lexington; two step-brothers, Steve Humbert of Charleston and Neil Humbert of James Island; and two step-sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Moncks Corner and Jenny Tuller of Las Vegas. There are five grandchildren, Jacob and Jeremiah Lairson, and Sam, Gracen, and Noah Logan Belue that also survive.
