Mr. Tony Harold Carpenter, age 73, of Calico Street, Walterboro, went home to be with the Lord peacefully Monday afternoon, July 2, 2012 at his residence following a long illness and under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock, Thursday morning, July 5, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with The Reverend Roger Quesenberry and The Reverend Earl Peeples officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Carpenter was born May 17, 1939 and was a son of the late David Smith Carpenter and Claudia Lane Carpenter. He was a retired employee of Clayton Homes in Walterboro. He was a member of First Assembly of God. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Zenith Dyal Carpenter of Walterboro; two sons, Anthony Carpenter and his wife Brenda of Mount Carmel, TN and Kevin Carpenter and his wife Cyndi of Irmo; three brothers, Fred Carpenter and his wife Edna of Fall Branch, TN, Bobby Carpenter and wife Barbara of Wilmington, NC and Phil Carpenter and his wife Linda of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; and a sister, Kathy Bishop and her husband Hugh of Kingsport, TN. There are 5 grandchildren, Timmy Carpenter and his wife Bobijo of Walterboro, Trish Heatley and her husband Chris of Nixville, Kyle Carpenter and Justin Carpenter both of Irmo and Jonathan Harvey and his wife Laura of Nixville; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Brady Harless of Mount Carmel, TN and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Carpenter of Kings Port, TN. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Michael and Timmy Carpenter, a brother, Gary Carpenter; and two sisters, Helen Raper and Charlene Harless.
