Timmy Colson

Mr. Lonnie Timothy Colson, affectionately known to everyone as “Timmy”, 64, of Bamberg, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, August 17, 2022.

Born September 3, 1957 in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Lonnie Colson and Vernelle Ruth Nettles Colson.  He retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation Engineering Department, where he had worked for 33 years. Timmy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Barnwell Branch.  He previously served in the Walterboro Branch in Primary, Young Men’s Presidency and was a member of the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood. He loved and enjoyed restoring old cars and had been a member of “Cutouts” and “Southeastern Gassers”.  He enjoyed fishing, loved his dog, Sadie Grace, and was a friend to many people.

Surviving are: his wife of 43 years, Brenda Bassett Colson of Bamberg; daughter, Brandy Michelle Colson Holley (Eddie) of Bamberg; sister, Lisa Colson Gregorich (George) of Goose Creek; sister-in-law, Gail and Louis Guess of Hendersonville; and three grandchildren, Katelyn Grace Azzarelli, Charles Colson Azzarelli, and Naomi Jean Holley.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Nell Colson Benton.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, August 20, 2022 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Bedon Baptist Churchyard, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro.
