Thomas Wesley Meischke

Walterboro, South Carolina

Mr. Thomas Wesley Meischke, known by many as “Tommy” and “Kermit”, age 75, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday evening, January 10, 2019, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born June 14, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Wesley Meischke and the Ida Reed Meischke.   He was a retired bus driver from the New Jersey Transit Authority and was a member of Nova Church.  He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1988 in Walterboro and also the former Moose Lodge.  He loved playing darts and roller-skating, a sport in which he had taught and also excelled in completion skating.   He was also once recognized by Maple Shade, New Jersey for his heroic actions in personally saving a police officer’s life.

Surviving are: a brother, Carl Meischke and his wife Cynthia of Westville, New Jersey; a sister, Roberta Riley and her husband Jack of Vincenttown, New Jersey; dear friends, Bryan and Patty Durr Decheubel; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 20, 2019, at Nova Church, 4955 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.  The Reverend Dr. Zane Brown officiating.
