Tom Herndon

Mr. Thomas Leonard Herndon, Jr., affectionately known to everyone as “Tom”, 48, of Estill, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, October 19, 2026, at his residence.

Born March 16, 1978, in Hampton, he was a son of Thomas Leonard Herndon, Sr. and the late Audrey Crosby Jarrell. Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an excellent pool player who went to Las Vegas twice for 8-Ball and 9-Ball championships. He was also an avid Clemson Tiger fan. Most of all, he dearly loved his family and loved spending time with his family and friends. If you knew Tom, you knew he was the definition of laid-back and easy going. He didn’t sweat the small stuff; instead, he brought a calm, steady presence wherever he went. He would give you the shirt off his back and was known for his kindness towards everyone.

Surviving are: his father, Thomas Herndon, Sr. of Estill; children, Carie Flanders and her husband Nicholas of Walterboro, Bradley Herndon of Nixville, and Ethan Herndon of Candler, North Carolina; granddaughter, Oaklynn Herndon; sister, Tiffany Jarrell Stone of Walterboro; brother, Kevin Jarrell (Ellen) of Hampton; the mothers of his children, Kami Merritt and Ali Miller; and nephews, Hunter Jarrell, Emmett Leonard, and Grayson Stone. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Audrey Jarrell and John Edward Jarrell; and his grandparents, Raymond and Mary Crosby, and Leonard and Tillie Herndon.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2026, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Hopewell First Baptist Church Cemetery, 6404 Hopewell Road, Hampton.
