Theressa Martin

Mrs. Theressa Ann Martin, age 61, of the Colston Branch Community of Bamberg, entered into rest Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.

Born November 15, 1959, in Varnville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of Mrs. June Smith Oliver and the late Mr. Marcelus Randolph Roberts.  She was a devoted homemaker who dearly loved her family and friends.  She attended Colston Branch Baptist Church.  She will always be remembered for her love of the outdoors and the love she had for gardening as well as camping and riding motorcycles.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Charleston are: a son, James Reginald Messex, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Bluffton; a daughter, Tamara Marcel Roberts-Bishop of Bamberg; a brother, Marcelus R. Robert, Jr. (Melissa) of James Island; a sister, Judy Oliver (James Brent) of Summerville; four grandchildren, Nicole, Toby, Savanna, and Trent; two great grandchildren, James and Ashton; several nieces and nephews; as well as her longtime companion, Johnny Lyons.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, September 11, 2021, from Colston Branch Baptist Church, 618 Sunday School Road, Bamberg.  Interment will follow in the churchyard.   The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 o’clock that afternoon in the church sanctuary.
