Thelma Roberts Catterton

Mrs. Virginia Roberts Catterton, 86, of Summerville, entered into rest Friday morning, April 18, 2025, at Lowcountry Community Hospice in Summerville.

Born July 13, 1938, in Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Laurie Roberts and the late Rebecca Joyce Crosby Roberts.  She was retired from the United States Postal Service, where she worked as a rural mail carrier for North Charleston.  She was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church and will always be remembered for the love and devotion she possessed for her family and friends.

Surviving are: her husband of sixty-eight years, Mr. David Lamar Catterton; two daughters, Joy Catterton Hallman (David) of Summerville and Gail Catterton Cook (Jerry) of Cairo, Georgia; a brother, Donald Roberts of Lexington; three grandchildren, Lucas Hallman, Adam Hallman (Victoria), and Justin Cook (Leanna); and three great grandchildren, Lucas Hallman, Carly Cook, and Weston Cook.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Hallman; a brother, Lonnie Roberts; and two sisters, Eunice Palmer and Jean Hunt.

The family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Black Creek Baptist Church, 4931 Black Creek Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 2025, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   Interment will follow in Black Creek Baptist Churchyard, 4931 Black Creek Road, Walterboro.
