Thedore Brammer, Sr
April 21, 1937 — August 5, 2012
Chief Master Sergeant Theodore Swanson Brammer, Sr., United States Air Force (Ret.) affectionately known as "Ted", age 75, of Chamblee Road in Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest surrounded by his loving family Sunday morning, August 5, 2012, at his residence under the care of Agape Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, August 8, 2012 from Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro with The Reverend Lewis Faulkenberry and The Reverend Dr. Gary Hanna officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.
A native of Roanoke, Virginia, he was born April 21, 1937 and was a son of the late William Swanson Brammer and the late Nellie Vandergrift Brammer. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force having been stationed at many bases throughout the United States as well as in Tripoli and Germany and also served two tours during the Vietnam Era. He and his beloved wife made Walterboro their home in August of 1980, where he completed his final four years in the military at the Charleston Air Force Base retiring with thirty-one years of service at distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant on November 1, 1984. He then began a career as Code Inspector for the City of Walterboro, where he worked until he was eligible for a second retirement.
Ted was well known in the Walterboro community and well loved by those he knew and his church family. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord, always willing to serve his church and help his fellow man. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where over the years he was active in most aspects of the church's work. At his church, he was a former Sunday School Director and was currently serving one of numerous terms on the Board of Deacons and was a past Chairman of the Deacons. He was also Past Chairman of the Ushers, a past Church Treasurer, past Chairman of the Stewardship Committee, and was a member of the Missions Encouragers Sunday School Class. He was a member of Unity Masonic Lodge No. 55 - Ancient Free Masons, where he was a Past Master of the Lodge, and was a member of the Shrine and Scottish Rite. In earlier years, Ted enjoyed fishing the local fresh water creeks and was an avid sports fan, attending and supporting the local varsity high school football team.
Surviving are: his loving wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Henrietta Crosby Brammer; a son, Theodore Swanson Brammer, Jr. and his wife Allison S. Brammer of Hilton Head; two daughters, Debra Brammer Hanna and her husband The Reverend Dr. Gary W. Hanna of Aiken and Donna Brammer McJunkin and her husband Randal Thomas McJunkin of Irmo; and a sister, Sandra Brammer Thacker of Enterprise, Alabama. There are seven grandchildren, Joshua Hanna, Adrienne Hanna, Randal McJunkin, Jr., Airman First Class Adam McJunkin, Cole Brammer, Caroline Brammer and Collins Brammer that also survive.
Flowers will be accepted, or for those who wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to the following: Edgewood Baptist Church, for use with their Church Improvement Fund or the Family Food Service Fund, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Agape Hospice, 658 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
