Teddy Marvin Ayer

January 13, 1942 — December 26, 2016

Mr. Teddy Marvin Ayer, 74, of Bamberg, entered into eternal rest Monday afternoon, December 26, 2016, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral services will be conducted 1pm Wednesday afternoon from Colston Branch Baptist Church, 655 Sunday School Road, Bamberg.  The Reverend Shawn Hanks officiating.  Interment will follow in the churchyard.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 12noon in the church sanctuary.

Born January 13, 1942, in Bamberg, he was a son of the late Lonnie and Corine Ayer.  He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as an electrician and had also retired from the South Carolina Highway Department.  He was a member of the Colston Branch Baptist Church.  Teddy loved people and enjoyed humor and much as he enjoyed making others laugh.  He was always be remembered as a great prankster and for his love of baseball.

Surviving are: four children, Bryan Scott Ayer of Cope, Marvin Todd Ayer and his wife Laurie of Lakeside, Arizona, Gregory Dean Ayer of Bamberg, and Tonya Jeffcoat of Cope; a brother, Bobby Ayer of Swansea and a sister, Margaret Redpath of Highpoint, North Carolina.  There are five grandchildren, Chasity Rice, Bryan Scott Ayer, Jr., Lesley Ray Jeffcoat, III, Courtney Alice Ayer, and Kendra Joy Ayer; as well as five great grandchildren that also survive.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Billy Ayer, Avery Ayer, Glenn Ayer, Merle Ayer Price, and Franklin Ayer.

The family would like to express their special appreciation to his beloved caregiver, Michelle Collins for her love and devotion that she provide to Mr. Ayer.
