Ted Nesbitt

Theodore Crawford “Ted” Nesbitt, Jr., 80, husband of fifty-five years to Mrs. Dianne Bennett Nesbitt, of the Little Swamp Community of Smoaks, entered into rest surrounded by his loving family at his residence while under the care of Crescent Hospice Saturday July 10, 2021.

Born in Georgetown County, February 8, 1941, he was a son of the late Theodore Crawford “T.C.” Nesbitt, Sr. and the late Carrie Elizabeth Williams Giles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a son, Theodore “Tinker” Nesbitt, III (Michelle) of Walterboro; a daughter, Barbie Nesbitt Robertson (Steve) of Smoaks; a half-brother, Gary Nesbitt (Brenda) of Sumter; three step-sisters, Audrey Clowrey of Florida, Emilee Rae Osteen of Sumter, and Carroll Giles Holman (Ray) of Georgia; and a step-brother, Calvin Giles (Heather) of Cottageville.  He has three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Ronnie Bennett (Benna) of Tennessee, Harriet Bennett Doub (Bob) of Brunson, and Cheryl Bennett Crosby (Ricky) of Smoaks.  There are three grandchildren, Theodore Charles Nesbitt (Amanda), Tiffani Amber Smoak (Drew), and Codey Edwin Robertson (Faith); great granddaughters, Olivia Annette Robertson and her mother Brigette Kendrick, and Caroline Bishop; step-grandchildren include Ashlee Jones (Shane), Nicholas Kelly (Savannah), Kyle Garrett (MacKenzie), Christopher Kelly, Brittany Brabham, and Jessica Brabham; and his step-great grandchildren include, Landon Elledge, Christian Elledge, Kaylee Elledge, Adalie Jones, Mia Garrett, Darren Crosby, McKinlee Grimes, Parker Grimes, Madison Brabham, and Chloe Varnadoe.  He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.   He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Emily Nesbitt; and son-in-law, Brad Robertson; and two step-brothers, Fred Mathis (Chubby) and Wayne Mathis.

Special friends who he loved as his own family included, Gwen (Erick) Ryan and their family, Brianna, James and Hadley; Al (Rosemary) Sammons, Renee Sammons Kizer (Kent), and Ben and Frankie Evans of Walterboro.

Ted loved spending time with his family and friends.  He loved for his grandchildren and great grandchildren to come and visit, especially his great granddaughter, Olivia, who he kept since birth for her parents to work (Olivia is now three years old).  There was a special place in his heart for each of them.

Ted and his wife Dianne loved to travel to the mountains of Tennessee; they also enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach.  He was employed by Colleton County Waste Management for the past fifteen years and he dearly loved his job.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be directed in his memory to: Little Swamp United Methodist Church, care of 16438 Hunter’s Chapel Road, Smoaks, South Carolina 29481.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021, from Little Swamp United Methodist Church, 17465 Hunter’s Chapel Road, Smoaks.  Interment will follow in the churchyard.
