Susan Brear Hilton

Susan Brear Hilton, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Summerville, South Carolina.

Susan was born on February 12,1952, to Arlington and Frances Sanford in Charleston, South Carolina. She grew up a proud Navy brat all over Europe and finally settled back in Charleston, South Carolina where she met her husband Mark of 54 years.

Susan worked for Berkeley County School District as well as being co-owner of a local antique store in Summerville. She also served as the Chaplain for VFW10256. However, her true passion was being the very best momma to her 3 daughters and bestest Granny to her 7 grandchildren.

Susan was fiercely loyal when it came to her family. A true Matriarch with a heart of gold who is beloved in life and death and will be missed beyond measure.

Susan is survived by her husband Mark of Summerville, South Carolina; her daughters, Melanie (Gary) Hilton-Semon and Aimee (Lance) Wadford; granddaughters, Caroline Wadford, Brooke Semone, Sophia Wadford; grandsons Garon Strickland, Blake Semone and Connor Wadford; a brother, William “Bill” Sanford (Nancy) of Leland, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Strickland; her parents; a brother, Robert Sanford.

Graveside funeral services will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, South Carolina 29902.
