Steve Monroe Ferguson

Mr. Steve Monroe Ferguson, 74, of the Meeting House Community in Cottageville, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, September 25, 2025, at his residence.

Born April 8, 1951 in Cottageville, South Carolina, he was a son of the late James H. Ferguson, Sr. and the late Agnes Colson Ferguson. He worked for many years as a loom technician at Asten – Johnson in Walterboro before transitioning to and retiring from Dorchester School District II. He was a faithful member of the Edisto Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved the outdoors as well as hunting and fishing and was a member of the Buck Head Hunting Club.

Surviving are: his wife of fifty-three years, Mrs. Pearl Bazzle Ferguson, a brother, James H. Ferguson, Jr. (Mary) of Cottageville; two sisters, Ruby Conwell and Margie Ann Crosby (Gene Bennett) both of Cottageville; a brother-in-law who was like a brother to him, Steve Breland and his wife who was like a sister to him, Vickie; and several nieces and nephews he loved dearly to include a special nephew who was like a son to him, Bill Breland, as well as other special nieces, Michele Breland and Tina Ferguson; and a special great nephew who was the light of his life, Dawson Breland.

The family is very thankful to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and the Oncology Department of Saint Francis Hospital for the love, devotion and care given to Steve. Also, Dr. Gunther Rencken, who to Steve, was the best friend and doctor anyone could have. The love, concern, and care Dr. Rencken showed to him over the years as amazing and very much appreciated.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2025, from Edisto Pentecostal Holiness Church, 24576 Augusta Highway, Cottageville. Interment will follow in Meeting House Cemetery, Meeting House Lane, Cottageville. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral beginning at 1 o’clock that afternoon in the church sanctuary.
