Stephen Carroll Thomas

Mr. Stephen Carroll Thomas, affectionately known as “Stevie”, age 63, entered into rest Thursday morning, December 8, 2016, while surrounded by his loving family in his home in Hendersonville.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, December 17, 2016, from Hendersonville Baptist Church, 893 Bachelor Hill Road, Walterboro.
The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony in the church sanctuary.
Born December 1, 1953, in Walterboro, he was a son of Mr. Carroll Eugene Thomas and Mrs. Trudie Nadine Hughes Thomas. Stevie worked a long career with Asten Hill in Walterboro where he retired as a weaver, following thirty-seven years of faithful service. He was a Hamm radio operator, (W4SCT) which was his greatest passion and pastime in life, being well-known for his enjoyment for spotting weather and communicating with other amateur radio operators. He was a volunteer fireman with Hendersonville Rural Fire Department, having once served the department as Assistant Fire Chief. He also loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, taxidermist work, and shooting firearms. He was a member of Hendersonville Baptist Church and was a longtime advocate and member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Hendersonville are: his wife of forty-years, Mrs. Janet Youmans Thomas; two children, Seth Allen Thomas and his wife Jerra Margaret of Hendersonville and Stephanie Carolyn Thomas Altman and her husband Bradley of England; a brother, Michael Thomas of Hendersonville; and two sisters, Janine Smoak of Walterboro and Martha Ann Bell of Hendersonville. There are six grandchildren, Kelsey, Brittany, Anne, Maveric, Taylor, and Chad.
