Stephen Schmitt

Mr. Stephen Dale Schmitt, 58, of Round O, entered into rest Sunday morning, August 15, 2021 at Colleton Medical Center.

Born February 9, 1959 in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was the son of the late Raymond Lee Schmitt and Juanita Hager Schmitt.  He was a bucket operator for Wilson Tree Company.  Stephen loved being in the outdoors, cutting grass and fishing.  He was a good mechanic and enjoyed working on things.

Surviving are: his wife, Amber Spahn Schmitt of Round O; children, Andrew D. Schmitt of Round O, Eric Schmitt of Charleston, Alex Schmitt of Sumter, and Keisha Schmitt of Sumter; step children, Diane O’Neal of Round O, Shanta Spahn of Walterboro, Ashley Schwartz of Walterboro, and Carol Ann Ripley of Walterboro; brothers, Dennis Schmitt and Tim Schmitt, both of Walterboro; sisters, Marlene Hopkins and Kandice Toft, both of Walterboro; grandchildren, Megan Schwartz, Chris Schwartz, Dezonte Schmitt, Andrew Schmitt, IIII, Aidan Schmitt, and Adi White; and his beloved terrier, Tibby.

A memorial service will be held 4 o’clock, Monday afternoon, August 23, 2021 The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel.  The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service.
