Stephen E. Bishop

Stephen Eric Bishop, 53, of Walterboro, passed away Friday afternoon, April 8, 2022, at the Trident Medical Center.

He was born September 3, 1968, in Hampton, South Carolina.  He was a son to the late Mr. Paschal Liston "Sonny" Bishop, Jr., and the late Mrs. Mary "Terry" Teresa Garceau Bishop.

Mr. Bishop was proud to serve his country and absolutely loved the United States Navy.  Having a passion to serve, he enlisted in the Navy for four years and continued serving in the Army National Guard for six years.   After his time in the service he enjoyed the times fishing and admiring hot-rods.  He was known by many as a prankster, but he’d give you the shirt off his back to help with anything.   He was a caring father and his sons were everything to him, including his mother.

He is survived by: his sons, Brandon T. Bishop, and Caleb E. Bishop; the mother of his children, Paula Bishop-Kendall; a brother, Randy Bishop; sister, Dawn Bishop; a nephew, Collin Bryan; nieces, Whitney Bryan, Rebakah Bryan and Harlie Bishop; a great-nephew, Brantley Platt.  He is also survived by special friends to the family, Tonya Bennett, Katie Bennett, Brittany Bennett and Cutter John Roy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, April 14, 2022, from New Hope Christian Church, 5144 Forks Road, Islandton.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral, Thursday morning, beginning at 10 o’clock at the church.
