Mr. Stanley Edward Savela, 82, of Rehoboth Road, Cottageville, entered into rest Saturday evening, March 1, 2014, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Born June 27, 1931, a native of Houghton, Michigan, he was a son of the late Edward W. Savela and the late Amelia Heikenen Savela Wellems. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy and was a retired machinist from General Dynamics in Charleston. He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Cottageville and will be fondly remembered for his talent at wood crafting as well as his love for Nascar Motor Sports Racing and fishing.
Surviving are: his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Mrs. Phyllis Barbara Engstler Savela; a son, Dennis Michael Savela and his wife Sharon Downey-Savela of South Killingly, Connecticut; a daughter, Jennifer Savela Eckert and her husband David Franklin Eckert, Jr. of Summerville; and a granddaughter, Leah Renee Savela. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Edward Savela; and a brother, Lloyd Edward Savela.
