Sonny Wilson

Mr. James Carroll “Sonny” Wilson, 78, of Walterboro, formerly of Gaston, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at Pruitt Healthcare in Walterboro.

Born May 2, 1941 in Richland County and was a son of the late Jesse Carroll Wilson and Gertie Mae Davis Wilson.  He was a retired truck driver.  He loved reading his Bible, enjoyed writing music, as well as singing and playing his guitar and sang with his daughter at the Grand Ole Opry.

Surviving are: his children, Elaine Wilson Groves of Walterboro, Ervin Wilson of Walterboro, and Marty Wilson of Neeses; grandchildren, Tabitha Fleming DeLoach, Brandon Fleming, Nicole Wilson, Buddy Wilson, and Aaron Wilson; great grandchildren, Sophia, Jeremiah, Abby, Bailey, Kylie, and Weston; sister, Earlene Ferry of Cayce; and a brother, Cecil Caprioli of Johns Island.

The family will hold a celebration of life service for the public on July 11th at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Baptist Church (Wilson's Church), 1050 Congress Road, Hopkins, South Carolina 29061.
