Mr. Sidney Rudolph Bowers, 86, of Grass Hill Road, Lena, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 21, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Monday, June 24, 2013 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in DeLoach Cemetery.
Mr. Bowers was born February 15, 1927 in Hampton County and was a son of the late Sidney McGee Bowers and Lillian Jarrell Bowers. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from Westinghouse. His favorite pastimes were fishing and playing cards.
Surviving are: his sisters, Barbara Morphy of Lexington, Ruth Walker and her husband Joe of Barnwell, Libby Owens and her husband Charles of Gaston and Shirley Way and her husband Bo of Furman; brothers, Willie Bowers and his wife Lois of Varnville and Carl Bowers and his wife Joyce of Springfield, Georgia; and a special friend, Al Tapley of Brunson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Googe Bowers; and sisters, Jeanette Murdaugh and Carolyn Strickland.
