Shirley Jumper Wilson, 77, of Round O, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Summerville Community Hospice House. Born May 22, 1947, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was a daughter to the late Charles Jumper and Allie Harrison Jumper.
Shirley was a proud registered nurse for twenty-five years, she worked for Baptist Medical Center and Lexington Medical Center during her career. She is remembered as the matriarch of the family who held them all together. She was always known to put differences aside and help anyone who ever needed it, and since she was so family oriented, she was sure to make anyone feel loved and welcomed. Shirley was “all smiles and cheers”, especially during a family get together. Any holiday or birthday was a celebration, and she was always there with her sausage balls and fudge. Giving, loving, kind, caring, and beautiful are just a few words used to describe her heart. Anyone who knew Shirley knew she loved her flowers and taking care of her yard. Nothing stopped her from tending to her flowers, not even a broken leg.
Surviving is her husband of thirty-five years, Ralph Wilson of Round O; her son, John Benson, Sr., of Round O; a daughter, Tracy Fisher and her husband Shawn of North Carolina, her brothers; Ken Jumper, J.W. Ballenger, John Earl Ballenger; her sisters, Angela McElroy, Connie Holmes, Libby Reed, Ethel, Thelma, Velma, Gladys, and Ally; her grandchildren, Desiree Benson, John Benson, Jr., Charles Benson, Laura Linkous, Nicole Linkous and Scott Fisher; her great-grandchildren, Novha, Kaylonnie, Kyleigh, Johnathan, Kaylin, Adari, Isabel, Lilly, Ivy, Rose Mary, Violet, Noah, Ariel, and Micha.
Preceding Shirley in death is her daughter, Laura Christine Linkous; a brother, Jimmy Ballenger; and a grandson, Shawn Fisher.
Funeral Services will be held 4 o’clock, Monday afternoon, June 17, 2024, in the Brice W. Herndon and Son’s Walterboro Chapel, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina, 29488. A visitation will immediately follow the service.
