Mrs. Shirley Smoak Brown, 76, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, January 11, 2025, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She was the wife of the late Daniel Lee Brown.
Born September 13, 1948, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton Lamar Smoak, Sr. and Vergie Mae Jones Smoak. She was a retired driver for Fox Trucking and was a member of The Pentecostals of Walterboro. She loved crocheting, sewing, and traveling, and especially going on a cruise.
Surviving are: her son, Paul Allen McGahan and his wife Penny; sisters, Helen Priester and her husband Wayne, and Sandra Walker; grandchildren, Bethany (Ark) Mackins and Luke (Ashiel) Pickering; great grandchildren, Leisha Bryant, Addie-Marie Mackins, and Jordan Mackins; her three beloved dogs, Dusty, Rusty, and Lucky; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Lamar Smoak, William Smoak, Clayton Smoak, Jr., and Kitty Jo Strickland.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Jonathan Bates and Reverend Robert Snipes officiating. Interment will follow in Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Doctors Creek Road, Walterboro.
