Mrs. Shelby Jean Register, 85, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, December 14, 2024, at Edisto Post Acute Care in Orangeburg with her granddaughter, Rebecca by her side, under the care of Amedysis Hospice. She was the wife of the late Earl Register.
Shelby was born January 11, 1939, and raised along the beautiful beaches of Mississippi. After marrying her husband, Earl, she moved to Colleton County, South Carolina, where she spent the remainder of her life. She worked at JP Stevens as a factory worker before dedicating herself to being a homemaker, lovingly caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shelby found joy in sewing and crocheting, creating cherished pieces for her family. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her beloved great grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into her life.
Shelby’s memory will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren, Rebecca Stivender (Craig), Eric Farley, and Melanie Farley; her great grandchildren, Trey Eason, Braylon Smoak, Willis Stivender, and Addie Smoak; a host of nieces and nephews; and her half siblings, Chester Spicer, Debra Kittner, and Peggy; and all of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of love and care bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Rhonda Register, Donald Register, Sheila Ramsey, and Billy Miller; and by her siblings in Mississippi and Louisianna.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, December 17, 2024, at Stokes Cemetery, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.
