Mr. Shawn Todd Murray, known by all as “Shawny”, age 56, of Ruffin, entered into rest Friday morning, June 26, 2026, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.

Shawny was born November 14, 1969, in Hollywood, Florida, and was a son of the late Thomas Henry “Scooter” Murray, III and the late Audrey Nugent Murray. Shawny was the owner of Walterboro’s iconic Murray Transport as well as Murray Home Center. His dedication to his business along with an unwavering work ethic made him a successful name throughout the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where his company became known by countless folks as “Murray Mobile Home Movers”. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, No. 1 in Walterboro. Shawny loved classic cars and dearly loved offshore fishing with his daughter and father, drag racing, and traveling with his wife. He will always be remembered for the dedication he had to his girls as they participated in Barrell Racing and was so proud of his baby girl winning a title at youth world. Shawny left an incredible mark on this world that will forever live in the hearts of those he loved and they will never forget the larger-than-life personality he possessed.

Surviving are: his wife, Ashleigh Nicole Murray; six children, Lexie Murray Benton and her husband Charlie, Karsyn Murray, Cayleigh Jacques, Abbagale Jacques, Brianna Jacques, and Kinslee Benton; two brothers, John Richard Murray and Thomas Henry Murray, IV and his wife Heather; a sister, Stacie Murray Clark and her husband Jeff; three aunts, Annette Baldwin and her husband Richard, Louise Johnson, and Christian N. Leary and her husband Larry; two uncles, Jonathan Hoover and Joe Nugent; and four nieces, Ashten, Jillian, Ava, and Hannah. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Kimberly Balkom; and three brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Janes, Travis Balkom and his wife Victoria, and Andrew Balkom.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the following: Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospitals, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; or to, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.

The Relatives and Friends of Shawny Murray are invited to attend his funeral service which will be conducted at 4 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 3, 2026, from The First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro. The Reverend Kenneth McCaskill officiating. The family will receive friends, following the service, to celebrate his life at the Walterboro Wildlife Center, 100 South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
