Ms. Sharon Lynnette Strickland, 67, of Summerville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, February 21, 2024, at her daughter’s residence.
Born December 25, 1956, in Hampton, she was a daughter of Delores Gooding Strickland Beach and the late James Vernon Strickland. Sharon worked for many years at Lowcountry Fish Camp in Summerville where she made many friends. She always made sure to get things done and taken care of quickly and never minded putting people in their place when they needed it. She was a compassionate and caring friend. More than anything, she loved being “Nene” to her grandchildren, spending time with them, taking them shopping and enjoyed teaching them how to cook.
Surviving are: her mother, Delores Gooding Strickland Beach of Varnville; her children, Patty Smith (Archie) of Hampton and Haley Cook (Mark) of Summerville; brother, Christopher Strickland (Jessica) of Walterboro; sister, Allison O’Connell (Dan) of Cheshire, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jesse, Nick, Katlyn, Hunter and Kendall; and great grandchildren, Jayden, Raelynn, and Emma.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be sent to: Courageous Kidz, 230 Old Dominion Road, Charleston, South Carolina 29418, www.courageouskidz.org.
Funeral services will be held 12 o’clock, Monday afternoon, February 26, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Strickland Cemetery, Straw Pond Drive, Ruffin.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday beginning at 11 am at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORY, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina, 29488. Visit the guestbook online at: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com.
