Biography

Mrs. Sharon Lofton Gilmore, 58, of Enoch Road, Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Roper Hospital in Charleston.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro., with the Reverend Ronnie Lofton officiating.

Mrs. Gilmore was born October 12, 1953 in Brookhaven, Mississippi and was a daughter of Norris Edward Lofton and Nita Watts Lofton. She attended Southwest Mississippi Junior College and was a member of the Church of Christ. She formerly owned and managed the Sears store in Walterboro and was the primary caregiver for her mother-in-law, Betty Jean Donnelly and her late father-in-law, Ted Donnelly.

Surviving are: her husband of 26 years, Wayne Gilmore of Ruffin; parents, Ed and Nita Lofton of Brookhaven, Mississippi; daughters, Lindsey Schofield and her husband Adam of Ruffin and Kimberly Hughes and her husband Matt of Goldsboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dalton Hughes and Garrett Hughes; brothers, Ronnie Lofton of Brookhaven, Mississippi and Terry Lofton of Brookhaven, Mississippi; sister, Suzanne Cagle of Brookhaven, Mississippi; and her mother-in-law, Betty Jean Donnelly of Ruffin.
