Sarah Evans O'Quinn

Hampton, South Carolina

Mrs.  Sarah Evans O’Quinn, 79, went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2020 in Augusta, Georgia.

Mrs. O’Quinn was born November 28, 1941 in Walterboro, the daughter of the late Chesley and Mamie Evans. She was a graduate of Walterboro High School and shortly after married the love of her life, Charles E. O’Quinn, Jr in 1963. Sarah was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was a member of First Christian Church as well as attending Hampton Church of God.

Sarah had a gift for creating exquisite floral arrangements that found their way to church vestibules, wedding ceremonies, and other events. Along with her husband, she enthusiastically served on the Hampton County Watermelon Festival Committee for numerous years.

Sarah is survived by her three children, Darainey Hudson (Rocky) of Brunson, South Carolina, Schane O’Quinn of North Carolina, and Patra Griffitt (George) of Augusta, Georgia; three grandchildren Taylor Hudson and Grayson and Asher Lee; a sister, Joyce Baxter (Maxcey) of Walterboro, South Carolina; and her former son-in-law, Tony Lee of Greenville, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Charles E. O’Quinn, Jr.

The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff of Augusta Gardens Senior Living and Memory Care in Augusta, Georgia as well as Lake Crossing in Appling, Georgia for the care they gave to Mrs. Sarah.

A private family service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel.  Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. #17, Chicago, IL 60601 or a local hospice organization such as MSA Hospice.
