Sarah Arnold Mangrum, 93, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, October 20, 2025, at her residence. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Thomas Franklin Mangrum, to whom she was married 75 years.
Sarah was born in Bedford County, Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late James Arnold and Kathleen Williamson Arnold. After her mother passed away during childbirth, Sarah was raised by Ernest and Pearl Snell, her uncle and aunt who she considered her parents. Sarah had various jobs throughout her lifetime, but her most fulfilling one was raising her 5 children. Sarah retired from Belk as an area manager in the South Windermere store. She loved her Lord and her family very much. After making Walterboro her home in 1998, she became a member of the Walterboro Church of Christ. She then devoted herself to the Free Bible Correspondence Course where she wrote over 400 lessons and taught over twelve thousand students.
Sarah is survived by her five children, Brenda Streets, Dianne Loftin (Lenn), Keith Mangrum (Angie), Bonita Ellwein (Dan), and Denise McCracken (Tommy); siblings, Asalene Fuller, Janice Beachboard, Wayne Arnold, and Raymond Arnold; twelve grandchildren, Tammy McGarity (Frank), Ginnie Fowler (Scott), Crystal Crisp (Adam), Andy Streets (Natasha), Lindsay Harrison (Joe), Tiffany McDowell (Sam), Laura Mangrum, Ryan McCracken (Beth), Sarah Brock (Rachel), Olivia Walden (Brian), Amy Ellwein, and Isabelle Ramey (Josh); twenty-seven great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Howard Streets; step-mother, Birdie Wiser Arnold; and siblings, her twin sister Lucile Arnold, James Arnold, Dewey Arnold, Burlie Arnold, Robert Milton Arnold, Paul Curtis Arnold, Winford Arnold, Geneva Hannah, John Thomas Arnold, Lloyd Snell, Cecil Snell, Ralph Snell, Dale Snell, and Joe Snell.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: the Walterboro Church of Christ, Post Office Box 2012, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, October 25, 2025, at Essex Village Church of Christ, 736 Savage Road, Charleston. Interment will follow at 1 o’clock in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston.
